Nowadays almost every company describes itself as sustainable, although the term has many different levels and needs to be applied carefully.

velvet space, our coworking in München Schwabing can’t claim to be entirely sustainable, but we choose our steps wisely, to contribute as much as possible to a greener society.

There is no better place for a quick coffee break then the tranquility of garden beauty in the courtyard.
Local Cooperation & Regional Products
To keep our carbon footprint relatively low and support the local community, we try to work with Munich based companies when possible including our coffee roaster, Supremo, a little family-owned roaster. Supremo supports small farmers and offers direct trade coffee.
Going Paperless
Completely relinquishing paper in business life is almost impossible. Yet, we’ve found a way to reduce paper through several, simple but effective means, for example, switching to electronic billing and contracts.
Community Tupperware
We are surrounded by a high variety of culinary hotspots which encourage you to stick around, but sometimes you just feel like getting a takeaway. But is it really necessary to wrap the food in a plastic bag, ask for plastic cutlery and carry it in a plastic bag? Feel free to use our community tupperware to reduce waste.
Recycle, Reuse, Reduce
We believe that goods deserve to have a longer life, therefore you’ll find some upcycled furniture in our coworking space in München Schwabing. Come and have a look at our lunch table, it’s made from an old ballet floor.

Our business model itself is based on the sharing economy concept which is directly linked to the creation of more sustainable use of resources. Don’t forget, sharing is caring.

OUR STORY

Velvet as a fabric existed throughout history, however, velvet space, our coworking in München Schwabing has only just sprouted its seeds. Creating a new venture felt like an adventure, the start of a journey. Luckily, our passion for travelling brought us together to the same destination, which was our tourism management degree in Munich.

 

Seven semesters, thousands of shared library hours, a couple of parties, a few trips, one final university project and multiple laughing fits later, hand in hand, we boarded the plane onto new challenges. Our shared curiosity and seek for creative expression within the working world flew us straight to terminal velvet space.

 

This has given us the opportunity to put our values, ideas, strengths and affinity for design together to become a hub for our community in this unique coworking space in München Schwabing.
